Two-Colour Diagonal Weave

Two-Colour Diagonal Weave. Like all slip stitches, it compresses in height, so it's good for warm outerwear.

With color A, cast on a multiple of 4 sts + 1.
Row 1 (WS): With color A, purl all sts.
Row 2 (RS): With color B, knit 1, * slip 1 wyib, knit 3; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: With color B, * purl 3, slip 1 wyif; repeat from * to last st, purl 1.
Row 4: With color A, knit 1,* drop next slip st off left -hand needle to front of work, knit 2, then pick up dropped st and knit it, knit1; repeat from * to end.
Row 5: With color A, purl all sts.
Row 6: With color B, knit 5, * slip 1 wyib, knit3; repeat from * to end.
Row 7: With color B, * purl 3, slip 1 wyif; repeat from * to last 5 sts, purl 5.
Row 8: With color A, knit 3, * slip 2 wyib, drop next slip st off left -hand needle to front of work, slip the same 2 sts back to the left-hand needle, then pick up dropped st and knit it, knit3; repeat from * to last 2 sts, knit 2.
Repeat rows 1 to 8 till necessary for completing your project.

 Two Color Jacquards looks intricate but in fact it is an easy one, because it uses the simple technique of two-color slip-stitch knitting.

With color A, cast on a multiple of 8 sts + 2.
Knit two rows stockinette stitch (knit the RS row, purl the WS row)
Row 1: With color B, k1, * sl4 wyif, k4; repeat from * to last st, k1.
Row 2: With color B, p1, * p3, sl4 wyib, p1; repeat from * to last st, p1.

Woven Plait stitch is a dense stitch and pulls in considerably

With color A, cast on a multiple of 3 sts .
Row 1 (RS): With color A, knit.
Row 2 (WS): With color A, purl 3, *slip1 with yarn in front, purl 2; repeat from * to end.
Row 3: With color B, knit 2, *drop next st off needle to front of work, knit 2, then with point of left-handed needle pick up dropped st and slip it on to right-hand needle without working; repeat from * to last st, knit 1.
Row 4: With color B, * purl 2, slip1 with yarn in front; rep from * to last 3 sts, purl 3.
Row 5: With Color A, knit 1 * slip 2 with yarn in back, drop next st off needle to front of work, slip the same 2 sts back to left-hand needle, pick up dropped st on to right-hand needle without working, knit 2; repeat from * to last 2 sts, knit 2.
Repeat rows 2-5 until you have reached your desired length.

Staggered Eyelets

The Staggered Eyelet stitch pattern produces a pretty all over eyelet pattern. The eyelets are produced by creating both a yarn over and a decrease. Working these two together creates the eyelet in the fabric and maintains the stitch count.

Brioche Stitch

Cast on an even number of stitches.
(Given the elasticity of brioche, you should cast on and bind off very loosely)
Set up row: * Yf sl 1 yo, k1; repeat from * to end.
Pattern Row: * Yf sl 1 yo, brk 1; repeat from * to end.
Repeat Pattern Row until you have reached your desired length.

Knitting abbreviations:
- YF SL YO: Yarn forward, slip stitch yarn over.
Bring working yarn to front under the needle, slip 1 stitch purlwise, bring working yarn over top of needle to the back. This produces a yarn over that crosses over the slipped stitch.
- BRK: Brioche knit.
Knit the stitch that was slipped in the previous row together with its yarn over. Because the yarn over wasn't counted as a separate stitch on the previous row, no real decrease is made.

Zig Zag Entrelac

Entrelac knitting is exploding in popularity, with more and more patterns and projects being posted by the day. It is a technique that creates a diamond pattern that is easier to do than you think.

You may choose to use a single color when knitting entrelac, but using a different color for each row of diamonds makes the woven pattern more visible


TIER 1: 3 Rectangles.

Rectangle 1. Cast on 6 sts.
Rows 1 - 3 -5- 7- 9 -11 : P6.
Rows 2 -4 -6 -8 -10-12: K6.

Rectangle 2. Cast on 6 sts.
Rows 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 9 - 11: P6, turn
Rows 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 10: K6, turn
Row 12: K6, do not turn.

Rectangle 3. As Rectangle 2

TIER 2: 4 Rectangles

Rectangle 1. Cast on 6 sts.
Rows 1 - 3 - 5 - 7 - 9: P5, p2tog, turn.
Rows 2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 10: K6 ,turn.
Row 11: P5, p2tog, do not turn.

Rectangle 2. Pick up and purl 6 stitches evenly along edge of next rectangle.
